Secret Santa Gifts Under € 30: 16 Ideas That Actually Land
A Secret Santa gift rarely fails at the moment of unwrapping. It fails a second earlier: when someone picks up the parcel, feels how light it is, and already knows there is a joke inside. With thirty euros that does not have to happen to you. Thirty euros is exactly the amount at which you can stop being funny and give something that is simply beautiful.

In this guide we walk through jewelry between twenty and thirty euros that looks like something you would buy for yourself: necklaces, rings, earrings and bracelets in premium stainless steel — skin-friendly, waterproof and made to last. And, more importantly, how to choose. Because choosing for your best friend is a completely different exercise from choosing for the colleague you only know as the one who is always late to the Monday meeting.
What makes thirty euros different from twenty
At ten or fifteen euros a gift is mostly a gesture. Nobody expects something that stays, and that is fine — you are buying a laugh, not jewelry. At thirty euros that tips over. The recipient knows what the amount is worth, and the expectation shifts with it: this could be something I keep.
That is exactly where it goes wrong most often. The budget is bigger, so people start filling it: three ten-euro bits, a little bag alongside, done. In the shop that feels generous; at the party it is a pile of loose items with no direction. If you are working with the smaller budget instead, read our guide to Secret Santa gifts under € 20 — different rules apply there.
One good piece, or three small things?
Think it through. Three ten-euro gifts are three chances to miss by a little: three times a color she does not wear, three times a size that does not fit. One piece of jewelry at twenty-eight euros is one chance — but a chance you take seriously, because you think about it properly once instead of quickly three times.
One exception: several things do work when they add up to a single gift. A delicate necklace with matching stud earrings from the same series reads as a set, not as a pile — although you are quickly over budget that way, and with Wichteln, the German version of Secret Santa, that amount is usually a firm agreement. Rule of thumb for the rest of this article: pick one piece between twenty-five and thirty euros, leave it in the gift box it arrives in, and write one line to go with it.
For someone you know well
If you really know the person — your sister, your best friend, someone you have been drawing names with for years — you are allowed to get personal. A necklace is the best piece of jewelry for that in this budget: it sits where people see it, it gets worn almost daily, and there is literally something hanging from it that meaning can attach to.
The Rosan necklace with rose quartz pendant (€ 34.95) is one of those: a real natural stone in soft pink, on a fine gold-tone chain. If she keeps things minimal, the Mera necklace with heart pendant (€ 32.95, 50 cm / 19.7 inch) is the safer classic. And if she likes to layer, the Nathalie layered necklace (€ 34.95) does the work for her: two lengths in one piece.
Do watch the length. A 40 cm (15.7 inch) necklace sits at the collarbone and disappears under a sweater; 50 cm (19.7 inch) hangs lower and looks good over a turtleneck in December. When in doubt, go for the longer one. Looking for something for your girlfriend rather than for a drawn name? Read our guide to the Christmas gift for your girlfriend.
Necklaces that feel personal
For a colleague: lovely, but not too personal
With a colleague there is one rule that solves everything: the gift may show that you have taste, but not that you have been thinking about them. So no hearts, no initials, no stone with a meaning attached. Those things are lovely for your sister and awkward for the colleague from purchasing.
That makes earrings the best office gift in this budget: visible enough to be appreciated, neutral enough to be about nothing at all. The Nikki cubic zirconia stud earrings (€ 22.95) are the most risk-free choice there is — small, bright, and they go with everything. Slightly more modern are the Jayla twisted hoop earrings of 2 cm (0.8 inch) (€ 30.00), and anyone who likes things clean and minimal is well served by the Hayley rectangular stud earrings (€ 25.00).
One thing to watch: sensitive ears. With a colleague you have no way of knowing whether cheap metal turns her earlobes red, and that is exactly the gift that never gets worn. All our earrings are made from premium stainless steel and are therefore hypoallergenic. Is there a party after the names are drawn? Earrings that always work at the office
If you do not know her taste: timeless, adjustable, neutral
This is the hardest scenario and at the same time the most common one. You have drawn a name, you know she exists, and that is all. Three rules help here.
Timeless. Leave this season's trend alone and pick a shape that still works in three years: a smooth ring, a fine chain link, a simple stone. Trend jewelry is fun to buy for yourself and risky to give.
Adjustable. You do not know her ring size, and asking gives away the draw. Adjustable rings solve that completely: one size, bend it open or closed a little, done. The Marit minimalist ring (€ 25.00) and the Svea statement ring (€ 27.50) are both one size — as is the rest of the adjustable rings collection.
Neutral color. If she wears silver and you give gold, it stays in the box however beautiful it is. Not sure? Silver-tone with a natural stone is the calmest choice, like the Elvira ring with natural stone (€ 29.95). If you do want something personal without the risk, a Quincy initial ring (€ 27.50) is clever: all you need to know is the first letter of her name. And the Nova fidget ring (€ 35.00) does remarkably well with people you do not know.
Adjustable rings — one size, so always a fit
Bracelets: the safest choice in a mixed group
In most offices you draw a name from a pot that everyone is in. The name you draw could just as easily be a man's, and half your ideas fall away. Bracelets solve that, because they work on both sides of the list.
For her, the Uppsala charm bracelet (€ 29.95) is a sure thing: delicate, gold-tone or silver-tone, and not so eye-catching that it becomes a matter of taste. Calmer still is the Yara link bracelet in silver-tone (€ 27.95). If you want a little more color, the Helsinki beaded bracelet with charm (€ 27.95) brings warmth to a winter outfit.
For him, natural stone beaded bracelets work best — they get worn by men who wear no other jewelry at all. The Gunnar bracelet with tiger's eye (€ 29.95) has a warm golden brown stone; the Björn bracelet in faux leather with tiger's eye (€ 29.95) is the more rugged version.

Wichteln: how Secret Santa works in Germany
What English speakers call Secret Santa is known in Germany as Wichteln, after the Wichtel — the little gnome who secretly comes to bring something. The principle is the same: everyone draws a name, nobody says whose, and a budget is agreed in advance. In Germany that budget is simply more often a real agreement than a guideline. If it says thirty euros, someone will check.
There are two flavors. Schrottwichteln, literally "junk Wichteln", is the funny version: you give away something useless from your own house, the worse the better, and the laugh is the whole point. With ordinary Wichteln that is exactly what you should not do. There people want something nice, and thirty euros is precisely the amount at which that gets taken seriously.
Another difference: in Germany the presents are opened on Heiligabend, Christmas Eve on 24 December, and not on Christmas Day. The Wichteln itself usually happens earlier, at the Weihnachtsfeier — the company Christmas party, which falls in November or December. Germany also has Nikolaus on 6 December, with small gifts left in a shoe, completely separate from Christmas; it is comparable to Sinterklaas, the Dutch gift-giving celebration on 5 December, but a day of its own with its own presents. And then there is the Adventskalender, the advent calendar, which has to be filled before the first Sunday of Advent — this year Sunday 29 November. How to fill one is covered in our article on filling an advent calendar.
Getting it there in time: ordering and delivery
The annoying thing about Secret Santa is that the date is fixed. The party is on the fifteenth, so you need a gift on the fourteenth — not on the sixteenth. Order before 15:00 CET on a working day and we ship the same day. Jewelry ships worldwide for € 3.95, with free shipping from € 75, so with three drawn names at once you are over that line right away.
Delivery takes 3 to 7 working days within the EU and 5 to 14 working days outside the EU. That sounds generous, but during Black Week — this year from 23 to 30 November, with Black Friday on 27 November — the carriers are full, and that upper limit stops being theory. For a Christmas party in that window, order a week earlier than you think you need to. Running late anyway? Read our tips for a last-minute Christmas gift.
One thing saves you work in any case: every piece of jewelry comes in a luxury Lundholm gift box. No wrapping paper needed, and on the table it looks like you went to some trouble.

What is a good € 30 Secret Santa gift?
At thirty euros you are better off giving one good piece than three small things. Jewelry works very well for that: it is small, it feels personal without being awkward, and it already comes in a gift box. Think of a necklace with a pendant, an adjustable ring, stud earrings or a bracelet between € 20 and € 30.
What is the difference between Wichteln and Schrottwichteln?
Wichteln is the German version of Secret Santa: everyone secretly draws a name and a fixed budget is agreed in advance. Schrottwichteln is its comic counterpart, where you deliberately give away something useless from your own house. With ordinary Wichteln you are expected to give something nice.
What jewelry do you give a colleague?
Earrings are the safest: they show that you have taste without getting personal. Keep it neutral — cubic zirconia studs, twisted hoops or clean rectangular stud earrings. Avoid hearts, initials and stones with a meaning; those suit family and close friends better.
What do you give when you do not know someone's taste?
Choose timeless, adjustable and neutral in color. An adjustable ring is ideal because you do not need to know the ring size: it is one size and you gently bend it to fit. Pair that with a quiet shape and a color she definitely wears.
How do I tell whether someone wears gold-tone or silver-tone?
Look at the watch, the glasses frame or the buckle on the bag. People are almost always consistent about it, so you can work out the right color without asking. If you genuinely cannot tell, silver-tone with a natural stone is the calmest choice.
When should I order so it arrives in time?
Order before 15:00 CET on a working day and it ships the same day. Jewelry ships worldwide for € 3.95 and free from € 75. Delivery takes 3 to 7 working days within the EU and 5 to 14 working days outside the EU, so around Black Week (23 to 30 November) order a week earlier than you would think.
Secret Santa is ultimately a small game with one rule: show that you gave it a moment's thought. At thirty euros there is plenty of room for that. Pick one piece of jewelry that suits the person, leave it in its box and write one line to go with it. Browse all jewelry under € 30 and draw your name with confidence.
