What is a chain bracelet?

A chain bracelet is made of interlocking links, just like a necklace around your wrist. It's one of the easiest bracelets to wear: a fine chain bracelet goes with a sweater, a blouse and an evening dress, and a chunky one finishes a simple outfit. Almost every style closes with a lobster clasp and an extender chain, so you can wear it tighter or looser.

Fine, chunky or layered: which one suits you?

  • Fine chain bracelets: thin links that sit lightly on your wrist and almost disappear next to a watch. The Ellen in gold-tone or silver-tone is a lovely basic, and a good start if you want to stack.
  • Chunky chain bracelets: wide, sturdy links you notice straight away. The Delphine has large, open oval links; wear it alone or with one fine bracelet at most.
  • Layered chain bracelets: two or three strands on one clasp, for a layered look without the fuss. The Nicola combines chunky elongated links with a fine chain.
  • With cubic zirconia or a charm: for a little sparkle or something sweet. The Iza is set with cubic zirconia stones; bracelets with a heart are in our heart bracelets.

Rule of thumb: if you have a slim wrist or like wearing several bracelets, start fine. If you want one bracelet that finishes your look, go chunky. More about every type is in types of bracelets for women.

What length chain bracelet do you need?

Measure your wrist just above the wrist bone and add 1 to 2 cm: that's the length at which a bracelet sits comfortably. Most chain bracelets have an extender chain of 3 to 5 cm, for example 16 + 4 cm or 17 + 3 cm, so you can set the length yourself. That also makes a chain bracelet a safe gift: you don't need to know the exact wrist size.

Stacking chain bracelets

A chain bracelet is the perfect base for an arm party. Start with one fine chain bracelet and add a chunkier or layered style. For more variety, mix in a smooth bangle or a beaded bracelet; three to five bracelets is usually enough. Stick to one color for a calm look, or mix gold and silver on purpose. You'll find ready-made combinations among the bracelets to stack, and our tips for stacking bracelets show you how to build your own stack.

Waterproof, hypoallergenic and gift-ready

The women's chain bracelets are made of premium stainless steel with a gold-tone or silver-tone PVD coating. They're waterproof, so you can keep them on in the shower, the sea and the pool, and hypoallergenic: suitable for most people with sensitive skin. For men, there's an elastic chain bracelet among our men's bracelets; keep that one dry so the elastic stays supple. Order from our own webshop and you always get a free gift bag. Order on a working day before 3 pm and we ship the same day; delivery times and shipping costs for your country are on our shipping page.
