Discover our layered necklaces online

A layered necklace gives you a layered look in one go, without having to combine separate necklaces yourself. A layered necklace joins two or three chains of different lengths into one piece, often with different types of links. At Lundholm you'll find layered necklaces in premium stainless steel in gold-tone and silver-tone: with two layers, three layers, a Y-drop or subtle faux pearls. You'll also find a necklace here that's especially lovely for creating your own layers.

Layered necklaces for every style and occasion

For every day, a layered necklace with two fine layers is ideal, such as the Tessa with a flat chain and a ball chain, or the Hanne with a smooth snake chain and a fine link chain. They look polished with a T-shirt, a blouse or a knitted jumper. Want more volume? Choose a three-layer necklace such as the Manou or the Tove: three different links create a rich, modern look that shows off beautifully with a V-neck or an open blouse. For a party or dinner, the Nathalie with a Y-drop is an elegant choice, and the Kristy with small faux pearls adds a soft, classic touch. A layered necklace also makes a lovely gift: it feels like several pieces of jewellery in one. Also take a look at our gifts for her.

Which types of layered necklaces will you find at Lundholm?

Double layered necklaces: two layers in one necklace. The Tessa (42 + 5 cm) combines a flat chain with a ball chain, the Hanne (42 + 5 cm) a snake chain with a fine link chain.

Three-layer necklaces: the Manou has a twisted chain, a snake chain and a paperclip chain at about 37, 40 and 43 cm, with one clasp and a 5 cm extension chain. The Tove combines a snake chain, a paperclip link and a classic round link.

Layered necklace with a Y-drop: the Nathalie combines a fine link chain with a longer Y-drop that creates a lovely vertical effect. Available in gold-tone and silver-tone.

Layered necklace with a pearl effect: the Kristy has two layers with subtle faux pearls and adjusts from 44 to 49 cm.

Layering necklace: the silver-tone Love is a 48 + 5 cm charm necklace with hearts that you can wear on its own or combine with a shorter necklace to create your own layered look.

How do you choose a layered necklace that suits you?

Start with your neckline. With a round neck or a T-shirt, two layers of around 40 to 45 cm look lovely; with a V-neck or an open blouse, a three-layer necklace or a Y-drop works best, because it follows the line of your neck. Then look at the links. Fine and smooth chains look refined and are easy to wear every day; a mix of twisted, flat and paperclip links adds more texture and stands out more. Not sure about the length? Most layered necklaces have a 5 cm extension chain, so you can wear them slightly higher or lower. Finally, choose the colour that goes with your other jewellery. Gold-tone feels warm, while silver-tone, as on the Nathalie and the Love, feels fresh and modern.

How to style layered necklaces

A layered necklace is already complete, but you can build on it even further. Wear a double necklace and add a longer pendant necklace underneath for an extra layer. Or pair the layered necklace with a bold chain necklace for a mix of fine and chunky. Always leave a few centimetres between the layers so everything falls nicely. If you're already wearing lots of layers around your neck, keep your earrings small: subtle stud earrings are all you need. Finish with a few fine bracelets from stacked bracelets, so your look works from neck to wrist. You'll find more necklaces in our necklaces collection.

Materials and care

All layered necklaces in this collection are made of premium stainless steel; the Hanne is made of 316L stainless steel. The gold-tone styles have a gold-tone finish, most of them with a PVD coating. Because they're made of stainless steel, these necklaces are waterproof: you can wear them in the shower, in the sea and in the pool. Only the Kristy with faux pearls is best taken off around water. Most styles are described as hypoallergenic in the product description, which can be nice if you have sensitive skin. Put your necklace on after applying perfume and body lotion, and store it flat or hanging with the clasp closed. That way the layers stay neatly apart.

Frequently asked questions

What is a layered necklace?

A layered necklace consists of two or three chains of different lengths that together form one piece of jewellery. That gives you a layered look in one go, without having to combine separate necklaces yourself. At Lundholm you'll find double and three-layer necklaces, a style with a Y-drop and a double necklace with faux pearls.

How do you stop layered necklaces from getting tangled?

Choose a layered necklace where the layers share one clasp, such as the Manou; that way the layers stay neatly in place. If you combine separate necklaces, leave at least a few centimetres' difference in length and choose different links. Store your necklaces flat or hanging with the clasp closed, so they don't get mixed up.

Which layered necklace suits a V-neck?

With a V-neck, a necklace that follows the line of your neck looks best. A three-layer necklace such as the Manou or the Tove, or the Nathalie with a Y-drop, falls nicely into the V and gives your outfit depth. If you're wearing a round neck, a double necklace of around 40 to 45 cm is often a better choice.

Can you wear a layered necklace in the shower?

Yes, the layered necklaces in this collection are made of premium stainless steel, which makes them waterproof. So you can wear them in the shower, in the sea and in the pool. Only the Kristy with faux pearls is best taken off around water. To keep them shining for longer, put them on after applying perfume and body lotion, and store them dry.

Can you combine a layered necklace with a pendant necklace?

Yes, that's actually a lovely combination. Wear the layered necklace as your base and add a longer pendant necklace as the bottom layer. Choose a calm pendant if your layered necklace has lots of texture, and a more eye-catching pendant with a fine double necklace. Always leave a few centimetres between the layers.
