Teardrop earrings are earrings in the shape of a drop of water: narrow at the top and fuller at the bottom. That flowing shape looks soft and feminine and gives every outfit an elegant finishing touch. At Lundholm you'll find teardrop earrings as small studs, as sculptural statement earrings, as a hoop with a teardrop and with sparkling cubic zirconia. All teardrop earrings in this collection are made of premium stainless steel, in gold-tone or silver-tone.

Teardrop earrings for every style and occasion

Teardrop earrings are true all-rounders. Wear a small style such as the Maddie (1.35 cm) or the Luma (2.1 cm) to work, with a casual jumper or a white blouse. For a dinner or party, choose a sculptural teardrop of about 3 cm, such as the Hazel or the Mirthe, or go all out with the Avela: a 4.4 cm long drop of water. At a wedding or gala, the Celeste with teardrop-shaped and round cubic zirconia stones or the Avélie with a cubic zirconia teardrop charm add exactly the touch of glamour you're looking for.

Which types of teardrop earrings will you find at Lundholm?

Teardrop studs

Compact teardrops that stay close to your earlobe. The Maddie (1.35 cm) and the Luma (2.1 cm) are smooth and gold-tone. The Kora (1.5 x 1 cm) has a row of clear cubic zirconia stones along the teardrop.

Statement teardrop earrings

Flowing, sculptural shapes that stand out. The Hazel and the Mirthe are about 3 cm long and available in gold-tone and silver-tone. At 4.4 x 2.4 cm, the silver-tone Avela is the largest style in the collection.

Hoops with a teardrop

The Avélie is a huggie: a small hoop that sits close around your earlobe, with a teardrop-shaped cubic zirconia charm. The Janine is a slim 2.9 cm teardrop-shaped hoop and the Elea a chunky 1.8 cm high teardrop hoop.

Teardrop earrings with cubic zirconia

Looking for sparkle? Choose the Celeste, the Kora or the Avélie. Cubic zirconia is a clear, synthetic stone that catches the light beautifully. It isn't a diamond, but it does add a festive shine.

How do you choose teardrop earrings that suit you?

Size: for every day, a teardrop up to about 2 cm is the easiest. From 3 cm you have a statement earring, which looks best with your hair up or an open neckline.

Colour: gold-tone gives a warm, classic look, while silver-tone feels fresh and modern. The Hazel and the Mirthe come in both colours, so you can choose what goes with your other jewellery.

Smooth or sparkly: smooth, shiny teardrops are timeless and calm. Want more sparkle? Choose a style with cubic zirconia.

Comfort: unsure about big earrings? The Hazel and the Mirthe are designed to be lightweight, so you can easily wear them all day.

How to style teardrop earrings

A teardrop earring is often the focal point of your look, so keep the rest calm. Wear a statement teardrop on its own and pair it with a fine necklace. Love an ear party? Put a small teardrop in your first piercing and add stud earrings or small hoops in the same colour. Looking for even more eye-catching styles? Take a look at our statement earrings. For a wedding, you'll find pieces in bridal jewellery that go beautifully with the Celeste or Avélie.

Materials and care

All teardrop earrings in this collection are made of premium stainless steel. The silver-tone styles have a shiny silver-tone finish; the gold-tone styles have a gold-tone plating, many with a PVD coating. On the Avélie and the Celeste, this is an extra-thick 2.5 micron PVD layer. These stainless steel earrings are waterproof and colour-fast: you can simply wear them in the shower. The product information describes them as hypoallergenic.

How to keep them looking lovely: apply perfume and body lotion before you put your earrings in, avoid cleaning products, store them in a pouch or jewellery box and polish them now and then with a soft, dry cloth. Also discover all our other earrings.

Frequently asked questions

What are teardrop earrings?

Teardrop earrings are earrings in the shape of a drop of water: narrow at the top and fuller at the bottom. They come as small studs, as statement earrings and as hoops with a teardrop charm. At Lundholm, all teardrop earrings are made of premium stainless steel, in gold-tone or silver-tone.

Can you shower with teardrop earrings?

Yes. Lundholm's teardrop earrings are made of premium stainless steel and are waterproof, so you can wear them in the shower. To keep them looking lovely for longer, avoid direct contact with perfume, body lotion and cleaning products and polish them now and then with a soft, dry cloth.

Which teardrop earrings should you wear to a wedding?

For a wedding, teardrop earrings with cubic zirconia work well, such as the Celeste with teardrop-shaped and round stones or the Avélie with a cubic zirconia teardrop charm. Prefer a sleeker look? Choose a smooth statement teardrop such as the Hazel or the Mirthe. Wear your hair up and teardrop earrings look their best.

Are big teardrop earrings heavy?

Not necessarily. Our statement teardrops Hazel and Mirthe, at about 3 cm, are designed to be lightweight, so you can wear them comfortably all day. If you're unsure, start with a medium-sized style of 2 to 3 cm. The largest style in this collection is the Avela, a 4.4 cm long silver-tone drop of water.

Are teardrop earrings with cubic zirconia real diamonds?

No. Cubic zirconia is a clear, synthetic stone that catches the light beautifully and sparkles as a result, but it isn't a diamond. At Lundholm you'll find teardrop earrings with cubic zirconia such as the Celeste, the Kora and the Avélie: lovely if you like a little shine, for every day or a festive occasion.
